Ageing & Disability

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
This course is intended for those who are interested in working in the disability sector to support individuals with disabilities in residential or community settings. You will be able to significantly impact people’s daily lives as an individual support worker by helping them to retain their independence and self-esteem.
The information and abilities needed to perform tasks relevant to preserving and enhancing the independence and wellbeing of people with disabilities will be imparted to graduates. Moreover, in order to empower and enable independent living skills for disable community, students will discover how crucial it is to provide them choices and preferences to optimize their lifestyle.
This course would be appropriate for those who value helping and working with disabled people and are interested in developing and empowering their quality of life.
